Executive Team

Colin Bassett is one of the founders of the Be Group and was appointed as CEO of the Group after the acquisition of LMG in 2008. Colin’s focus is on growing the group across both the insurance contents claims market and strategic partnerships in other business to business related markets.

He has led the group's transition with the innovative development and use of technologies within the claims processes resulting in attracting an expanding supply chain across all product categories providing an environment for exceptional people to thrive and grow.

Mark was appointed Chief Financial Officer for the Group in 2008. He has overall responsibilty for the group's financial affairs, providing insights and analysis to support the strategic direction of the business.

Mark arrived at the Group as a chartered certified accountant with experience across a range of industries, including both the retail and insurance sectors and led the acquisition of LMG as part of the corporate strategy.

Gary Putland was appointed to the position of CIO in 2016.

Passionate about technology, Gary has been with the group since 2003 and leads our wide portfolio of software platforms across the Group. Gary works with the executive team to drive the delivery of the digital roadmap.

Tanya has more than 15 years experience working in Human Resources predominantly in the insurance industry.

Tanya is passionate about employee experience, development, recruitment, training and workplace culture. Working within the Executive team, Tanya has been instrumental in developing recruitment strategies including partnering with local colleges to develop highly successful apprenticeship programmes together with people and leadership workshops and training.

Tony Hayward has been with LMG since 1997 across a variety of roles as the company has grown, but principally involving client management and for many years has also been a key member of the senior management team.

Tony works closely with LMG’s operational team and clients to implement innovative claims services and solutions that support exceptional customer care whilst helping our clients to meet their business objectives.

Tony is a passionate rugby supporter, which being a Kiwi, is in the blood.

Karen McLean first joined the business in 2006 having previously held roles in sales and client relationships within the insurance replacement industry. After taking a career break in 2014, we were delighted to welcome her back in 2019 now leading the client relationships for electricals, lifestyle and flooring.

Karen's passionate about delivering quality service to both Insurers and their customers which sits at the heart of our values.

Tim Chewter heads up our Asia Pac division based out of Brisbane, Australia. 

Tim has over 20 years' experience of front line operational and account management roles within the claims industry. His wealth of knowledge, together with his passion for technology driven transformation, makes him ideally suited to his role within the global leadership team.

When it comes to data, Tim is a fanatic! He is a true believer in data-led decision making and the power of numbers.

Steve Wharton joined the business in 2016 to establish our "business to business" division having previously been with Argos4Business for many years. Steve has been instrumental in growing the business along with his sales team, working with new and existing clients to implement innovative gift with purchase arrangements and marketing incentive strategies.

Steve provides both exceptional client care, and solutions that help clients to meet their business needs.

Each client has its own objectives, but being a keen cricketer, he is seldom stumped when discovering the right solution.
